WPASL Announces 2021 Season Format and Schedule

(April 13, 2021) The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce the 2021 Season Format and Schedule.

The 2021 season will kick off on May 16th and will conclude on August 1st. Eight teams will participate in the league this year, with newcomers Poskin Jets FC and Spartan FC joining existing members Barron Soccer Team, Bateaux FC, FC Midnimo, Hayward Wolfpack FC, Lobos FC and St Croix Valley SC.

This year, the teams will be split into two divisions based geographically. These divisions are the North Division consisting of Barron Soccer Team, FC Midnimo, Hayward Wolfpack FC and St Croix Valley SC and the South Division consisting of Bateaux FC, Lobos FC, Poskin Jets FC and Spartan FC.

The teams will play each team in their division twice, once home and once away, and each team in the other division once, two games at home and two games away, resulting in a ten (10) game regular season.

All games played will count towards the overall standings, and although team standings will continue to exhibit all eight teams to maintain competitive integrity, the top team ranked from the North Division and top ranked team from the South Division will face off on August 1st for the Primary Cup championship, with the winner of this game being named the 2021 WPASL Champion.

St Croix Valley Returns to the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that Saint Croix Valley SC will be returning to the league for the 2021 season.

“We are very excited to be back in the league this season. We’ve made some good steps forward as a club and we’re hoping to improve after a disappointing season last year. SCV soccer is here to play!”

Saint Croix Valley SC was founded in 2019. The team was formed to compete in the inaugural season of WPASL play. The Saints pull players from a large area in Western Wisconsin, including St Croix Falls, Amery, Osceola, Chisago Lakes, MN and Lindstrom, MN. SCV finished 3rd place in 2019 before finishing last place in 2020, with a variety of issues plaguing the team.

Home games for Saint Croix Valley will be played at the Saint Croix High School Field in St Croix Falls, WI or Ki Chi Saga Park in Lindstrom, MN (COVID regulation pending). The Saints are managed by Matthew Brice.

Poskin Jets FC Joins the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that Poskin Jets Football Club will be joining to the league for the 2021 season.

“We strive to provide a strong sense of community and culture for our players, staff and fans. We are equally committed to excellence on and off the field and the growth of soccer in our area. Most of our guys were on State-Bound teams in high-school, and we look to bring that success to the field for the 2021 season.”

Poskin Jets FC was founded in 2021. After playing for various teams, the Bates brothers decided to bring together some hometown talent and enter the WPASL. Poskin Jets FC are named after a small town outside of Barron, where the Bates brothers grew up. Poskin Jets FC will open the season with some pre-season friendlies on May 2nd against Portside FC and Green Machine SC, both of the DASL.

Home games for Poskin Jets FC will be played at the Birch Street Soccer Field in Barron, WI. The Jets are managed by Connor Bates and Cole Bates.

Bateaux FC Returns to the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that Bateaux FC will be returning to the league for the 2021 season.

“We finished on top of the table the last two years, and secured our first Primary Cup last year. That was an awesome experience for our club and community, plus we’re excited to bring soccer back to Eau Claire after not getting to play home games in 2020 due to the pandemic. We’re looking to run the table again this year and we have the depth to do it. Our squad is young with some new faces, but even more talented than before. We are excited for another year of Bateaux soccer.”

Bateaux FC was founded in 2020. The team is a combination of two 7v7 clubs (EC Boys and EC Heat) who competed in the Eau Claire Rec league since 2010 and have won the championship for 6 years running. In 2019, Bateaux FC, then known as Eau Claire Heat FC, joined the WPASL and finished 2nd place after losing to Barron in the championship game. In 2020, Bateaux FC got their revenge and secured their first ever Primary Cup trophy with a 8-2-0 record.

Home games for Bateaux FC will be played at the Bollinger Fields or Regis High School (COVID regulation pending) in Eau Claire, WI. Bateaux are managed by David Ripplinger and Larry Mboga.

FC Midnimo Returns to the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that FC Midnimo will be returning to the league for the 2021 season.

“We are excited to be back playing in the league, we were competitive with a young team last year. Our goal is to have a positive soccer team where every player can showcase his skills and talents. Our mission is to compete and win the league.”

FC Midnimo was founded in 2019. After Inter Wisconsin FC folded at the closure of the 2019 sesaon, FC Midnimo was founded by some of the remaining players looking to stay in the league. Filled out by Barron’s large Somalian-American population, FC Midnimo will look to build on last year’s 5th place finish.

Home games for FC Midnimo will be played at the Birch Street Soccer Field in Barron, WI. FC Midnimo are managed by Mohamed Yare.

Hayward Wolfpack FC Returns to the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that Hayward Wolfpack Football Club will be returning to the league for the 2021 season.

“We’re really pumped for the 2021 season. We’ve strengthened the organizational structure of our club and released a full rebrand and this has attracted some strong talent. We’re excited to see how that correlates to results on the pitch as we pursue that elusive Primary Cup trophy.”

Hayward Wolfpack FC was founded in 2017. After playing local friendlies under the name Hayward Scorpions, the team joined with local youth club Hayward United SC from 2017-2020. In 2021, the club branched off from the youth to create their own organization and rebranded as Hayward Wolfpack FC. The Wolfpack played their 2018 season in the DASL, before joining the WPASL for their inaugural season. The Wolfpack have finished 4th place in both of the last two years.

Home games for Hayward Wolfpack FC will be played at the Hayward Intermediate School Field in Hayward, WI or Heidi Friermood Field in Hayward, WI (COVID Regulation Pending). The Wolfpack are managed by Kaden Bergman.

Spartan FC Joins the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that Spartan Football Club will be joining to the league for the 2021 season.

“We’re excited to begin our journey as an elite soccer club in the WPASL. We’ve brought together a great group of guys for our first season, and we look forward to battling for the Primary Cup this season.”

Spartan FC was founded in 2021. After noticing an absence of amateur soccer in the Sparta, WI-area, Spartan Football Club was founded to provide a platform for some of the best area talent to compete over the summer. Spartan FC is making a splash in it’s first year, entering the USASA Amateur Cup and scheduling a friendly with NPSL-foe Med City FC.

Home games for Spartan FC will be played at the Southside Fields in Sparta, WI. The Spartans are managed by Zach Holcomb.

Barron Soccer Team Returns to the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that Barron Soccer Team will be returning to the league for the 2021 season.

“We’re hungry to get back to the Primary Cup championship after winning it two years ago. We’re returning some of our best players and can’t wait to put another star on top of our crest.”

Barron Soccer Team was founded in 2017. After winning the RLASL recreational league championship, they made the jump up to the WPASL in its inaugural season. The Bears captured the 2019 WPASL Primary Cup championship, and had a strong finish in 2020, earning the 3rd place trophy.

Home games for Barron Soccer Team will be played at the Birch Street Soccer Field in Barron, WI or Cameron High School in Cameron, WI (COVID regulation pending). The Bears are managed by Liban Ismael.

Lobos FC Returns to the WPASL

The Wisconsin Primary Amateur Soccer League (WPASL) is proud to announce that Lobos FC will be returning the league for the 2021 season.

“We jumped into the league last year looking forward to playing at a higher level. Although we finished second place, we feel we set the standard for our team to be successful in 2021. We’re want the Cup this year.”

Lobos FC was founded in 2003. After competing in local leagues as Galaxy and Blue Jays, the Lobos FC moniker was born in 2013 after new management took over. Lobos have ravaged the local Wausau leagues, gaining 5 championships. Lobos FC finished with a 7-1-2 record during the 2020 season, enough for 23 points and a runners-up spot in the WPASL.

Home games for Lobos FC will be played at Jay Stadium (Merrill High School) in Merrill, WI. Lobos FC are managed by Luis Mendoza.
